Dustin Talks Halibut Fishing

Halibut

Fishing Year-Round
Pacific Halibut are plentiful throughout Alaska, the majority of the fish move into shallow water during the summer for feeding. This gives us the chance to fish for them all summer long. We start running trips in May and continue through September. The fish vary, with a wide variety of sizes, small fish in the 10 pound class all the way up to the monster Barn Door Halibut weighing up to as much as 400 pounds. At times it can be the hardest work, you'll ever pay to do, but we believe that Halibut is the finest eating sport fish out there.

How is this for a days work? 2009

One of Dustin's trips summer 2009.  Our Alaska Fishing Lodge, can put you out on the boat fishing Alaskan Halibut in the Cook Inlet, Seward, or we can take you down past Homer to the Barren Islands.  This Island trip results in huge "Barn Door" Halibut, Ling Cod, Yellow Eye, Rock Fish and a whole day of fun and a freezer and your friend's freezer full of fish.  Our last trip brough back 1/2 ton of fish between two boats.

Alaska Halibut Fishing

Dustin's Boys, Badger and Max check out a days catch on the hanging rack back at the Fishing Lodge. These beauties will be filleted, bagged up, taken off to Ed's Kasilof Seafood to be vacuum sealed and frozen.  When you fish with us we will take care of the details and  you will have all your fish packed up into 50 lb boxes ready for their flight home with you.  The fish will stay frozen a good 24 hours.  If your trip is long or weather extemely hot dry ice can be added.  5 lbs of dry ice is allowed per box as long as it is insulated.  The other option is to have it shipped over night by Fed X.  What ever you chose you will enjoy tis King of the white fish for months to come.

What "Auntie Dorothy" has to say

Halibut gets me through the winter, when the snow blows and the temp drops to -25 to -45, I whip up some great fish and chips,  a little fresh Tatar Sauce , some good old English Malt vinegar and I wait for the season and you guys to return,  Dustin is right you can fish them year round, but I am definitely not doing  the worlds deadliest catch in the winter,THANK YOU, I will just go to the freezer  ( I will dig clams in the snow, don't telll)     When I tell you to put your sea sick patch on late afternoon the day before, believe me.  It is better safe than sorry.  Oh, If you get the chance ask Dustin about team reeling !   It was one of those experiences I could have lived without!
