Hello,
I invite you to come and spend a week with us in my lodge, Crooked Creek Retreat. The doors were first opened to guests in July of 2007 and we have kept growing ever since. What makes us special is that we take care of all the details. Our goal is to make sure you have the best experience possble from the moment you arrive until we are waving good bye as you are pulling out of the driveway.
I know that it is difficult to pick the right lodge when there are so many on the web, it might help to know what you should be asking to help you choose the right lodge and outfitter. Probably the #1 thing is to determine how much they know about what they are doing and how well they do it. Ask first if they are year round Alaska residents, this will help you to determine if they are part of the community and vested in what they do. Plus, ask if their guides are Alaskans or just come up for season or if they sub out their fishing work to the lowest bidder as most lodges do. Find out if you will meet your guide ahead of time or will you be looking for him at the boat launch with no idea what he or the boat looks like. At the "Retreat" your guides will either be having dinner ith you or breakfast, load up your gear and you will have no doubt who you ar fishing with.
Then you need to know about the lodge. We are the only lodge that I am aware of that has all private baths, spa robes, provides all meals and we have in house boats and guides, that are locals and we do not sub out.. But ask about those things. Then find out if you are communicating with a booker, a salesman working on commission, or are you talking to the lodge owner?
Next think about the location, if you pick a lodge on the Kenai, it may sound great but usually there is another lodge on each side of you and another lodge directly across the river, plus you will be wedged between the river and road. Or are you lookiing for a more tranqual setting? Is the lodge convinently located to get on both rivers, to your Salt Trip launch, to your other activities? Will you have a chance to relax, view wildlife, or will you be on a city lot on the river, or close to the river, or maybe up to half an acre? We sit on 6 acres on Crooked Creek, just 2 miles to the Kasilof, 15 min to thee Kenai, and 45 min to your salt water fishing. Plus we are about 8 min to the salt water beach.
Those are the things you will want to consider. I am sure when you look at all of them you will choose us and you will fast become a believer in Crooked Creek Retreat, our service, our dedication and our great guides and staff.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Auntie Dorothy
